A group calling itself Coalition of Suffering National Service Personnel took to the streets of Accra today to demonstrate over their unpaid allowances. it is known that every university student after four years of your studies you have to serve your country. national service is mandatory for all . the government pays these national service personnels a token to cater for their needs while working. but for the past months their allowances seems not coming forth. this angered these personnels to hit the street of accra to register their displeasure to the government about their unpaid allowances
Clad in red and wielding placards, the group says their three months salaries which are in arrears must be paid. they were so angry to the extent that they have to put on red hand bands and head gears with pla cards with inscriptions like: NSP life matters, national service not slavery. according to their spokes person they are sick nd tired of alwqays the governmemt owing national service personnels. he said that the governmet should also think about the national service personnel because vthey are also human being. according him they are sick and tired of the government owing them all the time as if it is a norm that the government shoulld always owe them.
According to them, the delay in payment of their allowances is causing financial hardship due to recent price hikes of goods and services. accoerding to them even the amount they receive is not huge enough to cater for their needs but then they have to manage, here lies the case the money they are to manage is not being paid. how can they survive amidst this hardship in the country with it astraunoimical increase in prices of good sand services. This service personnels are seriosly struggling to cope with the current situiation they are pleading the government pays them all their monies in arrears so that they can survive the system.
